Wireless Fire Alarms

Wireless fire alarms (sometimes referred to as ‘radio fire alarms’) offer a wide range of benefits for all types of premises, particularly those where running cables throughout the premises is impractical or not wanted for aesthetic reasons. With innovative technology allowing for radio frequencies to control all detectors, call points and sounders from a central control panel, installation time is greatly reduced.

Scutum London supply, install and maintain a number of wireless fire alarm systems, making fire safety easier and more proficient. All of our wireless alarms are EN54-25 compliant, guaranteeing high quality and performance.

Our expert team are available to carry out full design and installation, making sure that you have the most appropriate system for your building’s requirements. Not only does this ensure the safety of staff and visitors in the event of a fire, it also keeps your business in full compliance with all legal regulations.

Scutum London are happy to discuss your wireless fire alarm options with you, so get in touch today for more information or to arrange an appointment.

Wireless Fire Alarms FAQs

Are wireless fire alarms legal?

There is nothing in any regulations that stipulates whether your fire alarm should be hardwired or wireless. As long as it has been manufactured and tested to current British Standards, a wireless fire alarm system is perfectly legal to use, as well as being highly reliable and in many cases will actually be the recommended option.

Are wireless fire alarms as reliable as wired systems?

Today’s wireless fire alarms systems are just as reliable as their hardwired alternatives. If you’re worried about the batteries running out, a good system will provide advance warning in plenty of time for you to install replacements (alternatively, if you’re worried about your hardwired system being affected by a power outage, these should be fitted with batteries as backup). Just make sure that your particular alarm has been manufactured and tested to current British Standards.

In which areas does Scutum London provide wireless fire alarms?

Our wireless fire alarms are available to any commercial premises located across London, Surrey or the rest of the South East.

How do I know whether a wireless fire alarm system is right for me?

If you’re interested in having a wireless fire alarm system installed at your premises, one of our expert engineers can make a free visit to assess whether it would be suitable for your situation.

Does Scutum London offer free consultations?

We are always available for free consultations, whether you want to talk to one of our experienced team on the phone or to arrange for a free site visit from one of our engineers.

Does Scutum London service/repair wireless fire alarms?

We offer servicing on our wireless fire alarm systems on either an ongoing contract or a one-off basis. We can also attend to and repair any issues we come across or that you report.

Why do wireless fire alarms need to be serviced?

All commercial fire alarms need to be regularly maintained as a legal requirement under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Regular maintenance will also give you peace of mind, knowing that your alarm will be working should the worst happen.

What work does an engineer carry out on a visit?

Our engineers will carry out a number of tests that would be the same as for a hardwired system, such as checking sound levels and its general condition. However, there are a few extra tests required with a wireless system, including checking that batteries are replaced within the manufacturer’s guidelines and testing the strength of the signal.

How disruptive is the process of getting a wireless fire alarm installed?

Having a wireless fire alarm system installed will cause considerably less disruption than a hardwired one, because there won’t be any cabling to lay or hide. Essentially, the detectors/alarms need to be installed in the right places and connected digitally to the control panel.

Is Scutum London accredited for wireless fire alarm installation?

Yes – we have a number of accreditations from industry bodies and organisations, so you can be confident that we’ll install and/or maintain your wireless fire alarm system to the highest standards.
